Exploration into Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) EquipmentResearch into the different methods of freezing has proved to be a vital tool moving forward. By discovering methods of freezing, both new and old, we will be able to provide the security center with many more options for them to choose from.
Spiral, fluidized bed, and air blast freezers were only some of the types of equipment that were analyzed. Blanching equipment was also reviewed, as it was deemed necessary for use in plant operations if produce was involved. Blanching stops activity of enzymes in produce that can lead to fast spoilage and allows for longer shelf life. State and federal food processing regulations, and food storage methods were also investigated. |

SuperPro Designer Process
In order to form a more complete picture of what the plant would look like, the team created a generic design of the plant in SuperPro Designer. This design will allow the team to more accurately perform an economic analysis of the plant, including the number and types of equipment that are required. The SuperPro process can be seen on the right.
